Ambassador Honors Hungarian Conductor Iván Fischer, Principal Conductor of National Symphony Orchestra

On October 27, Ambassador and Mrs. Somogyi gave a dinner in honor of Hungarian conductor Iván Fischer, the Principal Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington.

The musician started his new position with NSO this season and will lead the orchestra for the next two years. Fischer is also the founder and leader of the Budapest Festival Orchestra, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Fischer has ranked No. 3 on the "Artist of the Year 2008" competition of Gramophone magazine, based on the number of votes he received, and thus became part of the Top 10 list.
